   More on Scholarships

    • A common misconception is that you must have an extremely high GPA to get a scholarship.
    • While a high GPA helps, there are many scholarships which are more interested in gender, ethnicity and field of study than GPA.
    • Many scholarships go un-awarded every year.  Why?  Because no one applied!
    • Apply, Apply, Apply!!!

   Requesting Letters of Reference
    • Do not wait until the last minute.  Know that your letter writer is busy and will need time to draft your letter of reference.
    • Provide a resume and even your personal essay, if possible, to assist the letter writer.
    • Be ready to be interviewed by the letter writer if they request it.
    • Provide a stamped, addressed envelope for the letter writer to send your letter of reference in.

   Personal Essays
    • Give yourself time to craft a well written personal statement.
    • The essay you write provides additional evidence of your intellectual and creative achievement.
    • The essay is an opportunity for the readers of your application to get a feel for you as a person as well as for you as a student.
    • The essay is also the place where you can put your academic record into the context of your opportunities and obstacles.
    • Share your essay with someone you trust for feedback and make changes accordingly.

   Diplomas
    • Diploma must use student’s legal name.
    • Check name on the report card.  That will be the name on your diploma.
    • Please contact the Registrar’s office to make corrections asap if there is something wrong.
